Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) has announce the appointment of Kacey Oehlerking as assistant principal of École James S. McCormick School in Lacombe.

Oehlerking has been with Wolf Creek Public Schools since 1999, as a French immersion and music teacher from Kindergarten through Grade 2 at École James S. McCormick School and as the schools’ French immersion lead teacher.

In 2012, Oehlerking took on the role of education services coordinator at Wolf Creek division office, co-leading the Early Years Task Force.

This implemented programming and supports for instruction and assessment and provided in-school support to lead literacy initiatives in French Immersion and EAL.

“Kacey provides a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise. Her leadership and knowledge of curriculum, combined with her previous familiarity with JS McCormick School will be a tremendous asset to the school community,” said Sonja Dykslag, assistant superintendent for People Services.

Oehlerking also brings leadership to the position, having experience as colony supervisor to Wolf Creek Public Schools’ Colony Educators Team.

“I am absolutely delighted to be back at JS and honored to work with the staff, students, and families. I’m so excited to be a part of this amazing community and support the great work that is happening in both French Immersion and English at the school,” said Oehlerking.

“Working in the early years and supporting students in building a strong foundation for the rest of their educational years is incredibly important to me.”
